چکیده

A novel catalyst layer structure is proposed for our miniature fuel cells. In our fuel cells, conventionally porous Pt was used as a catalyst layer. In order to reduce the Pt amount, instead of porous Pt, porous Pd was formed on a Si chip and Pt was deposited atomically on the Pd by UPD-SLRR(Under Potential Deposition – Surface Limited Redox Replacement). The PdPt catalyst showed satisfying performance, besides high CO tolerance was observed. Though the Pd-Pt catalyst is quite promising, Pd is also a rare metal and reduction of Pd amount is necessary. In this study, a novel Au-Pd-Pt catalyst formation strategy is proposed by UPD-SLRR, and the layered structure is preliminary fabricated.

Using the Palladium as core and Platinum as shell for ORR

In this work, electrocatalyst with core-shell structure (Pd as core and Pt as shell on VulcanXC-72R) was synthesis. Not only this structure can reduce the amount of platinum but it also can increase the gas diffusion electrode (GDE) performance in cathode reaction (Oxygen Reduction Reaction or ORR) of polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). To this meaning, one series of electrocatalyst...

One –step synthesis of PdCo alloy nanoparticles decorated on reduced grahene oxide as an Electro-catalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction in Passive Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

We report a Pd-Co (3:1)/graphene oxide (Pd3Co /GO) catalyst through a one-step strategy. GO is synthesized from graphite electrodes using ionic liquid-assisted electrochemical exfoliation. Controllable GO-supported Pd3Co electrocatalystis then was reduced by ethylene glycol as a stabilizing agent to prepare highly dispersed PdCo nanoparticles on carbon graphene oxide to be used as oxygen reduct...

Pd-Co-Mo electrocatalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction in proton exchange membrane fuel cells.

The catalytic activity of carbon supported Pd-Co-Mo for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) in a single cell proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) has been investigated at 60 degrees C and compared with data from commercial Pt catalyst and our previously reported Pd-Co-Au and Pd-Ti catalysts. The Pd-Co-Mo catalyst with a Pd:Co:Mo atomic ratio of 70:20:10 exhibits slightly higher catalytic ...

Passive direct formic acid microfabricated fuel cells

This paper reports on microscale silicon-based direct formic acid fuel cells (Si-DFAFCs) in which the fuel and the oxidant are supplied to the electrodes in a passive manner. Passive delivery of fuel and oxidant eliminates the need for ancillary components and associated parasitic losses. In this Si-DFAFC, an aqueous solution of formic acid is in direct contact with a Pdor Pt-based anode and a ...

New Fuel Cell Electrodes Made from Graphene Nanosheets and their Nanocomposites

The production of novel catalyst support materials could open up new ways to enhance the catalytic activity by reduced catalyst loadings. Nanocomposites composed of conducting polymers reinforced with graphene nanosheets (GNS) or graphite oxide (GO) sheets can be potential fuel cell electrodes as an alternative to commercial fuel cell electrodes. Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs)...
